when i feel myself zoning out and dissociating (depression, anxiety, etc.) i count to 12 forwards and then backwards, and then i spell out each number while counting. it just gets me to come back down from whatever!

When I catch myself having a negative thought spiral, I make myself look for three things to be grateful for or read inspiring quotes. It’s taking time to reprogram my brain which holds 30 years of negative thinking but I’m getting there.

I remind myself how incredibly strong willed I actually am. I think about what I’ve done and the decisions I’ve made, and at the end of the day, I have always been in control. Despite how unsure my mind makes me, my actions are determined.

Listen and be present in conversation. Hear someone out if they’re upset with you. Pay attention to how your actions affect others. Stay aware

I finally know what “pay attention to your surroundings” means. During my trail yesterday, I occasionally was immersed in my thoughts and my attention was on my sad feelings and bad memories. But when I was out of the zone, I saw the trees, happy people passing by, happy dogs, and the clear water. I felt very happy and was wondering why I was in that zone before. So I guess I just need more control of myself and avoid being dragged to the darkness of my own thoughts

I have a sound machine and I put the sound on beach and I turn on my fan and wear fuzzy clothes and meditate and just focus on my thoughts.

Whenever you have bad thoughts about something even worse happening just remember it's your brain's silly way to make it look like what your going through is not as bad as what your thinking. It's important to replace those thoughts with a funny memory or make up a scenario in your mind that makes you laugh. Drown out those bad thoughts with good ones. Interrupt yourself to create better memories

I make sure I’m fully present when interacting with others. People don’t realize how much they’re on their phones when they’re supposed to be hanging out with other people. I’m mindful of my usage and think to myself “do I really need to do this right now” when I have the inpulse to look something up or write/text something I just remembered.
