I watched myself getting angry in real time. I realized it was from my actions in that moment. Almost like I wanted to make myself mad. In that moment, it became ridiculous and I instantly shifted from frustration to laughing at myself. It's one thing to understand intellectually how mindfulness works, it's a whole other thing to understand it experientially.

While I’m not a huge fan of meditation, I have found deep breathing to be incredibly helpful. I do it when I feel panic coming on and it helps to take the edge off or even stop it. Breathe in 4, hold 4, exhale 4.

I am currently teaching myself to look at my strengths rather than my weaknesses. I have always thought of myself as weak, especially if I cried in front of others or tried to revert back to drinking or self harm. But I'm slowly learning that those things and my mistakes dont define me and dont make me weak. The fact that I've struggled so much yet done so well to avoid my bad habits helps me see my strength and potential

Whenever I notice an unpleasant thought or emotion, I imagine swiping them away into either the "thoughts" category or "emotions" category to acknowledge them as just that.

I start the day using this app, reading positive quotes and advice is helpful. Today I listened to the Greatest Showman and sung at the top of my voice and it felt amazing! Helped me get to work without worrying.

When someone may come off as rude or mean to you, before fighting back, ask yourself why Theyre like that. They could be having a bad day, maybe they got fired from work or their loved one died. So before you respond angrily, ask why

Sometimes I will notice myself doing something that used to be really hard for me, without even having to think about it, and it feels amazing to think about how far I’ve come.

When I feel anxiety taking over or I feel like I’m about to cry, I just breathe. And in my head I tell myself it’s okay over and over. On particularly bad days, I wear a necklace my boyfriend got me that says “breathe” and hold it when I’m overwhelmed. We’re on a break, but knowing he still cares gets me through

I'm just learning how to incorporate mindfulness into my life, but one method I've learned is focusing on how the wind feels against my face while I run. It helps to ground me when I'm dissociating and to just focus me a bit more other times.
