I will literally focus on simple everyday tasks, like brushing my teeth, washing my hands, etc and really notice the feeling of the water on my hands, the sound of brushing my teeth, and actively focus on my breathing during those times. If my mind starts to wander, I pull my thoughts back to what I’m feeling, seeing, and hearing in that moment. Getting my brain to be more present in the moment is a challenge, but doing these small steps of mindfulness throughout the day seem to be helping me!

A little mindfulness reminder for you: Close you eyes...Focus on 5 things you feel in your body, 5 things you hear, 2 things you smell, 1 thing you taste. Open your eyes and note 10 things you see. Breathe.

I practice mindfulness with my consumption and usage of resources. I make my food with love and really take time to taste it as I eat it. I turn the water off in the shower while soaping and scrubbing, and I hand wash dishes with water buckets.

I stay mindful by being open minded and not being quick to judge other people. We never really know what other people are going through.

I just got an app called “Chill” that sends daily mindfulness quotes and also sends small reminders throughout the day (ex. “You are right here, right now.” “Is the thing you’re worrying about right now really worth your energy?” “Check in with your shoulders. Are you holding any tension there?”). I swear, the reminders always come RIGHT when I need them. It’s magic, ‘cause they’re so small, but make such a difference.

I remind myself not to be so harsh on my own actions. I try to be patient with myself, respect myself by using respectful inner dialogue. I know it sounds crazy, but I am my own worst enemy. When I actively remind myself to be kind to myself then I find more peace and I get better each time and have to remind myself less and less. It matters more than you think.
