Reminding myself that I'm doing my best, and that I'm only human. Grounding myself, and being aware of what's happening in my body. Meditation has been helping me connect to myself again.

My therapist actually gave me this tip, and it’s that when I’m feeling like bad thoughts are coming I just have to close my eyes, take deep breaths and try to picture me in my favorite place, or see me archiving a goal, and try to make it feel as real as possible, that way your brain will be fooled and thinks that’s happening, and the calm will come, I hope it can help you!

I act as though nothing else exists outside of the place I currently find myself. My past is not happening to me right now, my future isn’t happening to me right now, I am laying on a couch with my wife in this room with children asleep in the next one. Nothing else exists but this present moment and these present people. Nothing else “functionally” exists. I put down my phone and breathe the air I share with others I am presently sharing my life with.

I write down what I am greatful for every moring and something significant that has happened each day every evening. At first I thought doing this was a waste of time but I genuinely feel more positive now as negative thinking was something I was struggling with :) x

A list of goals helps me keep track of where I’m at and what I’m supposed to be doing so I can feel like I’m in control of my life

I remind myself that my problems aren’t forever, in a couple of years I’m going to get married, and have children of my own, and none of my problems will even matter, I’ll be too busy with a life of my own

My daughter helps me stay mindful by growing and changing constantly, which is a good reminder to embrace the moment for what it is & neither dwell on the past nor fixate on the future. The whole world is always changing, but it is sometimes hard to see. My child is never hard to see, and her growth is astonishing. I am so grateful for this chance to be her parent.

I try to always do a quick check in with my body to see where I’m holding tension and release it. I always catch myself with my shoulders in my ears and have to relax them.

Today I stayed present for 80% of my walk to work. I put some belters on Spotify really loud and ate a whole sandwich (which is difficult for me at the moment). Eating and singing in my head took up all the space, so I stayed in it.
