Today I realized how much low self-worth has been affecting me. I’ve come up with a plan to help boost my confidence and combat anxiety. Part of it is making time for daily reflection on good things I’ve done and things that make me a worthy person. Here’s today’s list: 1) I talked to a patient who is unresponsive as I cared for her and I connected with her family. 2) I bought a small gift for a friend who has been looking out for me this term.

It’s important to remind myself that I’m not the poster girl for mental illness. As a person suffering with anxiety and an eating disorder, I have to understand and accept that I’m gonna have days where I just wanna lay in bed and hide from the world. But I also have to realize that I am also capable of having good days like today and I have to cherish these good days. Living with mental illnesses, you have to remind yourself that happiness is an emotion you can achieve.

Don’t make a mistake of believing the malevolent thoughts that pound on the back door of our mind, resist and tell your story. Reveal your light to your broken brothers and sisters, illuminate their minds and free them.
