Today I took a long soak in a hot bubble bath with candles and meditation to mentally prepare me for my dreaded return to work tomorrow. I’m feeling a little more relaxed now 😌

I’m working on just tracking and noticing my thoughts. With my anxiety and depression, my inner critic is generally the first voice I hear and always telling me lies. Being mindful of what thoughts I’m having and how they are making me feel helps me to challenge them. I practice this by stopping after I recognize a debilitating thought, calling it a lie or silly, and saying something positive to myself.

I simply try to stay present in whatever I am doing. If I am doing dishes, I focus on doing dishes, if I am riding the subway, I am riding the subway, just observing casually and not thinking to the past or the future. That is mindfulness in a nutshell!

I write inspirational quotes or things I’ve learned in therapy and support groups on sticky notes and have them around randomly. Just quick blurbs, nothing long. I come across them daily in multiple places.

Meditation has helped me. I also remind myself that today is a blessing....enjoy every moment as tomorrow isn’t promised.

I think of something very simple, such as a brick or light pole, and think of how jntriquately designed it is, what it’s made of, and how helps us as humans.

When I am stressed at work, I repeat "kindness and patience" to keep myself focused on task and keep myself calm. Usually pair that with deep breathing.

A simple thoughts that motivates me. When you look back at the past those memories are lower because they come from deep down in your mind. When you look ahead to the future at your dreams they come from moments your mind is up in the clouds. So no matter how low you feel now, the present is higher mentally than your memories and the future will be even higher because your dreams are there for you to reach for. It can only go up from here. Keep dreaming, no matter what.

If I’m getting stressed, particularly first thing in the morning, I find it helpful to really listen to everything around me, as it starts to distract me, so that I’m calmer when I come back to whatever I was getting worried about.

I try to take a step back and look at things through other perspectives, as well as reminding myself that everyone has something going on in their lives that they don't show the world.
