When I notice myself getting overwhelmed with negative thoughts I try to center myself by becoming aware of physical sensations. I remind myself that in this moment I am safe and I am okay and that nothing in the past or future can affect me in my current state of being.

I remind myself that: "This is water", whenever I find myself getting frustrated with the essential but mundane everyday tasks of life. There are certain things we have to do in order to be; and certain situations we may have to endure in order to achieve something (I.e. Traffic or queueing). Reminding myself that it's just part of life helps to keep me centered and calm.

I am my own person. I don't owe anyone any part of me. I deserve happiness too.🌻

Do your brain a favor, for every political article you read or show that you watch, consume something educational, creative and brand new. Even if just to remind your brain that is an incredible organ and it can still learn, reason and draw new conclusions.

Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.

I keep mindful by recognising that despite my anxiety etc I actually have a really good life and the majority of my perceived “issues” in my head are all 100% first world problems and do not define me.

When you feel something that's negative or not good to express at that time, take a moment, feel it, recognize it, validate it, and move on. Validation is imperative.

Start little. Mindfulness is like working out for your brain. You gotta do sit ups to get the 6-pack of focus.

I visualize my breath (I imagine is looks like an animated northern lights) and as I breath in, I follow it and imagine is lighting up my body all the way to the tips of my fingers and toes etc. then I exhale and follow the breath, paying close attention to the tension in my shoulders and making sure I breath out all the negative feelings.

Since my mind tends to drift toward the negative, I am going to actively try to find the positive in every negative thought I have.

If I ever catch myself thinking "they probably don't like me..." I ask myself "do even I like them?"

I have conversations with my mother. I’m an only child and having me was very difficult. Her life was very difficult and she took being a mother very seriously. Anyway, we didn’t become really close until the last 40 years of her life. She lived to 102. I thought I had said everything I wanted, but I guess not. She was a great lady and I admire her very much.

I’ve been listening to a cd found by mistake in Apple Music,The Secret of Healing by Deepak Chopra. I found his voice very relaxing and the ideas, very soothing, positive and enjoyable.

I find the smiling mind app useful. It has various categories, including ones for your age group, etc. One of the categories has all sessions that are under 5 minutes long, in case that’s all the time you have. Or you can do something long and more extensive. It has options for anyone..Worth looking into if you’re looking for some guided exercises.
