I make my bed every morning. Don’t underestimate it. It’s a good way to start the day and it’s always nice to come home to. And I always feel like if accomplished something, even on my worst days.

Destroy the idea that you have to be constantly working or grinding in order to be successful. Embrace the concept that rest, recovery and reflection are essential parts of the progress towards a successful and ultimately happy life.

I enjoy a nice long shower while thinking about the water running over my hair...a little time to escape the rat race

I take a moment to pause when I get frustrated. I try not to react without thinking or taking some deep breaths.

Aromatherapy - yes candles, oils or intense. Cut up fruit and let the peels linger a bit. Change your sheets often - pillow cases midweek. Never allow your signature perfume to run out. Carry a roller ball with a soothing scent for an instant pick-me-up.

Rubbing my thumb and finger tip. It puts a temporarily focus on a small sensation in your fingertips. In a short moment i remind myself to simply feel, physically as wel as mentally. It can be done ANYtime ANYwhere.

I need to remind myself to avoid negativity. When I feel anxious, welcome that energy and channel it towards an action. Particularly one that will pay off and feel great tomorrow

Having my dog in my life forces me to think in the present moment especially when he wants to play or go for a walk. It stops my brain from wandering and overthinking things!

I make tea a lot, enough so that I have a cabinet full of different blends. Once I got myself a ceramic kettle, tea time kind of became a mini mediation time for me. The pattern of movements, like a little ritual, just helps me relax and be introspective in a different way because it’s so familiar and I’m so confident at it, unlike a lot of other things in my life.

I try not to over think and get lost in my thoughts by focusing on my surroundings and actually pay attention in class, because I noticed days would go by with me constantly thinking stuff, which causes me to lose concentration and get stressed

Painting my nails is relaxing to me. And having to sit still until my nails dry gives me time to not do anything.

I’m in a group for Self Compassion. I find this phrase from a loving kindness meditation useful when I’m feeling awful “May I be Safe, May I be Peaceful, May I be Kind to Myself, May I Accept how I am”. From Dr. Kristen Neff.

Switching off from social media. It's far too addictive. Some time away from it helps me relax and focus on other things

I've been doing mindfulness meditation for a few years now. I still struggle with building it into a routine but remember the saying, if you can't sit for 10 mins, you need to sit for 20! We have to build the power from within...as long as it takes.
