im trying every day to go on a walk & find 3-5 things that im thankful for each day. small things like a having blue sky after a few days of rain, or seeing a butterfly or two fluttering around in a park. this is definitely helping me stay focused on the present moment, because im constantly searching for something to be thankful for!

I've realised that Depression stops me from feeling alive. Mindfulness and being present in the moment is what life really feels like. When I'm anxious I mentally 'run away' so I'm not really present...i think I'm protecting myself but it's not helping. My best memories are from when I am present and just enjoying simple things like a hot shower or laughing with a friend (and not secretly worrying about other stuff!).

I go out to the forest and just embrace where I am in the moment. And listen to the sounds around me and think to myself who I am in the world. Idc if that's cheesy but honestly it helps to really take time to think about it.

Today, I have no motivation. I slept longer than I have in months because I just feel like crap. I'm trying to stay mindful by acknowledging these emotions and telling myself that I work hard and am a caring person.

I'm learning to live with an "okay" day one with little anxiety than other days... I may not be amazing at every sport, but being good is ok! I'm accepting myself, and that's an accomplishment itself

I try to be mindful when driving. I feel the grip of my hands on the steering wheel, the AC on my face. I look at the beautiful scenery around me. I also love to notice license plates, and how many states I can notice.

Someone told me that dwelling on the past creates guilt. And, thinking too much about the future creates anxiety. I'm learning to focus on the present because it is a gift. I struggled often with staying in the here and now. So when I need to be mindful of my surroundings I stop and pause, I close my eyes can I take in the sounds and I try to identify at least 6 to 8 sounds, and breathe.

I shower. I feel the water run down my fingers my body my lips. Feel the coldness of the floor at my feet. Feel the warmth of the water slowly reaching my toes to warm them. Or in class. I feel my feet on the ground. My arms on the desk. My hair behind my ears. I feel every breath i take. I feel the clothes im wearing touching my skin. I feel the pencil writing smoothly and gently on my soft paper that can yet cut me. I listen to every little sound it comforts me and soothes me.

This might not be a place for questions but does anyone have any tips on how to deal with bad feelings? I randomly get loathing and negative thoughts about myself and my life and they can be so overwhelming that they get in the way of functioning normally around my family. I find it hard to deal with these feelings when they arrise so I hope that anyone has experience with these. Thank you if anyone reads this sorry for the long message.
