Does anyone else find that checking social media can pull them out of the current moment? It's a problem I've noticed for myself.

I'm learning every day to allow the space between where I want to be and where I am to inspire me and not terrify me.

I have an inspiration notebook that is full of anything that inspires me and i look through it and add to it all the time, it keeps me pretty mindful (in the moment) Alot of my stuff in it is from some of my darkest times (when i was in the hospital and residential) but they are all positive things from those dark times so it makes me rember that there is always something positive, sometimes you just have to look a little harder

I drink tea, and sit in a quiet place. Even if noise is around I don't acknowledge it until the tea is gone.

I take a moment to take note of three things I can see, hear, and feel. Then I take note of two things I can see hear and feel, then one of each. It brings me back into the present moment, I used to start with five and work my way down, and I still do if I need a little extra to get out of my damn mind.

I learned how to read tarot cards, and find doing a daily draw or a Mind/Body/Soul spread helps me recenter and check in with myself. Even if you don't believe in external influence of the cards, your brain is finding symbols and meanings you most identify with in that moment and headspace. It's a way for me to be honest with myself and cut through my clouds of depression to clear thoughts.

I used to go for walks with my dog and they helped clear my mind and be present in the moment outdoors and brearhing in the fresh and being outside just made me feel so much better and it makes time freeze just long enough that you can forget about everything.

I try to do a mindfulness meditation and guided meditation each morning to start my day. I find it relaxes me and prepares me for the day. This is a thousand year old practice. Surely it does work! It works for me, and I look forward to it every morning. The cabin in the woods on YouTube is one of my favorite guided meditations, taking you to another world for a few minutes is like a mini retreat.
