I've realized that people are going to talk and stare no matter what I do, so I let them. They have no real power over me. In order for me to grow into the person I'm supposed to be, I'll have to stop caring about what they'll think of me and what I do and what I say and how I look. Fuck it, I want to be free. We only live once.

I sit with my anxiety. I feel the physical tension in my body. I take a breath and say, this is what anxiety is. You have felt it come and go before. It will go away again. Just sit with it. Let it be. Let it live out it's short life.

I am just trying to learn how to breathe calmly and properly. Too often I find myself tense and breathing shallowly. The guided exercises really help.

Today i read one of my old diaries/journals from two years ago when i was in a really dark spot of my life.Im so grateful for the meds im taking and how well i feel now. Reading it felt like a very old, blurry and faded memory.Felt like somebody else's past, not mine. Im so incredibly grateful that i cant recognise myself on those papers. Im thankful i found it to remind myself where i was at a time, where i am now and where i never want to be back.

When ever you feel panicked, notice one thing you can smell, two things you can touch, one thing you can taste, three things you can see and one or two things you can hear. You can become mindful of your surroundings.

Stay mindful by being focused on tasks and lists. Helps me stay on track and if I have a job/task then I have something positive to look forward to and once completed I get a sense of accomplishment.

If I feel upset because of something someone said that I interpreted as hurtful , I remind myself to look above it and think" that is not my opinion it is theirs and they have a right to think it and I don't need to agree," Than I think that I am proud I don't think as they do.

I recently broke up with my best friend of 11 years. I realized how awful she treated me and how much she was contributing to my anxiety and depression. I've wanted to go back to her since but I've told myself that I need to learn to be my own best friend. I don't know yet who I am without her and I learn more each day that we are apart. Even though it's been really hard for me, I know that it was the best choice I could've made for myself and my well being.

Mindfulness is a relatively new concept for me, and I am amazed at how much impact it has had on my sense of wellbeing. I like to see how many layers of sound I can hear, because I have to be the most still for this. Beyond the cars and birds, I can hear wind, distant traffic, even electricity. Then I name as many things as I can feel. And I think about my breathing.
