Honestly, those adult coloring books are a great way to take your mind off things and just focus. And they're tons of fun too!

I carry a small stitch plush in my purse or pocket and touch it when I need to remind myself that I am here and in the moment.

Just write it out. I write my feelings out in poetry, and it helps me feel less overwhelmed. Write especially about your surroundings and your favorite parts of your surroundings.

I love reading about Buddhism and tzao. As someone who's gone through a lot of hardships this year it's really great wisdom. I recommend picking up a Deepak Choprah or a Alan Watts book. It really centers myself.

I usually write journal entries to reflect on my day, my personality, and my relationships. It's a really great way to evaluate my life and improve my social habits.

I love my adult coloring book, but really want to push myself to start writing or journaling about my daily thoughts. Does anyone have any suggestions on helpful journals or workbooks that have helped you stay mindful?

Mindfulness is a constant state of mind. With practice I have learned to constantly check in with my mind and my body to read and listen to what it is telling me.

I like to listen or read poetry. Try Mary Oliver's When Death Comes or Wild Geese, Shane Koyczan's Instructions For A Bad Day, or Amanda Palmer reading Possibilities :)

I find reading/writing is calming. Even if it's completely nonsensical. You can throw it away or keep a diary. Or read or write a blog lemontruths on Wordpress is a very philosophical read.
