Know that you can't control everything. Your hair was put on your head to remind you of that.

I recently started practicing the "Internal Smile". I just lay down and individually smile at all my functions. My heart has been beating all these years - "Thank you, heart!" *smile at it* Then on to my liver, lungs, kidney, etc. It REALLY puts the frailty of life into perspective and allows me to be unyieldingly grateful for my life and the body that carries me through it. It also makes me feel REALLY good. Happy from the inside out. Sure, it's a mental thing, but so are many of my ailments.

I don't need to apologize for my feelings. My feelings are real. I am allowed to feel my feelings.

I have certain negative thoughts that come back all the time. I have given them a name ( for example, misplaced insecurities about my relationship are "my little ghosts") If i find myself thinking about them, I try to say to myself: "oh hello little ghost, here you are again" I smile and try to make a little fun of it! This helps me to put it in perspective and not get lost in those thoughts.

it's not that I want to die I just don't want to suffer anymore and realizing that there is a difference between the two was the best decision I've ever made.

Don't let one bad day make you feel like you have a terrible life. Just remember tomorrow is a new day and could be the greatest day of your life.

I don't let myself do a million things at once, or even two things at once. If I'm eating breakfast, then that's just what I do, eat breakfast. Not eat breakfast while surfing the internet, texting friends, answering emails and planning my day. Just because we can multitask doesn't mean we always should. There should be moments in our days when we just exist in that moment.

Remember that the present is the only time which things can be done. Anxiety and sadness about the future and past can never change the outcomes of your life. Only actions in the present moment can help you.

Sometimes I really just feel like giving up. Then I remember I have a lot of people to prove wrong

Stand back and watch your emotions. Fix the ones that are out of line and congratulate those that are on the path to positivity.

Remind yourself that you will not stay sad forever, for it is only temporary

if you are kind, people will accuse you of ulterior motives. be kind anyway. if you are honest, people may cheat you. be honest anyway. if you find happiness, people may be jealous. be happy anyway. the good you do today, may be forgotten tomorrow. do good anyway. if you give the world your best, it may never be enough. give your best anyway. people are often unreasonable and self-centered. forgive them anyway.

There's a Buddhist saying that I found that helps me stay mindful if I let the words meaning really sink in. It is: 'Everything in this moment is exactly as it should be.' So whether you believe in a god or fate or destiny, there's a plan, and this very moment is a part of it. That thought is comforting to me, especially in tough times.

5-10 minutes of meditation before I go to bed makes me feel happy, and de-stressed at the end of a tough day.

If I'm associating with people, I never judge them despite others opinions or their appearance. I form my own opinion. I'm kind. I say please and thank you. Manners cost nothing. I don't know what they could be going through that day or through in their life at the current moment in time. I smile at people. I smile back at people and not give them dirty looks.

When I'm feeling down, I like to journal everything I'm feeling. I know this is said a lot but it really helps so much. It's like talking to an unjudgemental friend with no boundaries. No limits. Just your raw emotion. After you're done, wait a bit then reread what you wrote and be your own therapist. We are all strong enough to lift ourselves up.

I go to school in an environment that is unaccepting of me wanting to be different. I stay mindful by knowing that my presence is changing others perspective.
