I stand barefoot on the grass and try to feel the energy from the earth coming up through my feet to my head and then focus on sending energy down from my head through my feet and back into the earth. Feeling connected to nature brings a kind of joyful peace into my body and mind.

Lately when the feeling of despairing anxiety flares up, I have started to talk to myself, "You're just feeling a little anxiety. Right now is all that matters. Don't think about the future. Just focus on the now. Isn't this a nice moment?" It's a little thought, but it makes all the difference when I'm swimming against the waves of an impending panic attack.

Remember to breathe. It's amazing how much we hold our breath when stressed out or depressed. Once you start breathing mindfully, you feel better immediately.

My mind is my worst enemy when it comes to worrying. The worst things happening are in my imagination. I know I am ok and the worst possible case is not likely to happen.

Deep breathing, imagining breath as a wave flowing up and down my body, while visualizing the ocean sights and sounds.

Each day I must first find a reason to love myself; Then I try to think of at least one thing I can do to benefit another; and when stressed I try to remember that there is always ever only one constant, and that is change. If I can accept that, I can find peace.
